Lopez Island, Handbuilt in the Northwest Style

The Cabin and Main House are rented separately.

The Main House is an octagon hand-crafted post and beam house with water view and is an island gem of craftsmanship and location. This one of a kind 1300 square foot house is an artistic arrangement of two story living area with many south facing windows and wood beamed ceiling with large skylights.

This house is tastefully decorated with antiques and appointed with local art, located at the end of road in a very quiet area. The house is across the road from the 45 acre Shark Reef Sanctuary with walking trails to the water and a view of Olympic Mountains and the San Juan lighthouse. The house is located 10 minutes from village and 20 minutes from the ferry landing.

There are two bedrooms, one upstairs and one downstairs. A catwalk bridge connects the two upstairs rooms. The upstairs bedroom has a queen bed under skylights, large south facing windows, and view of the water. The downstairs bedroom has a queen poster bed with view of the water and French doors opening out onto the deck. A comfortable seating area and woodstove make a cozy place to relax, read, or enjoy music. The piano is a delight to play and resounds in the octagon space. The large deck provides a great outdoor experience with pleasant views of the yard and water. The yard includes terraced gardens and an ornamental pond in the front yard and spacious lawn in the midst of big fir trees in the back yard.

The Cabin is in a clearing in the woods where ravens and eagles are neighbors. Behind the bamboo fence about 150 feet is the yard and main house. Across the road only a few minutes away is Shark Reef Sanctuary.

The kitchen has an under-counter refrigerator, and is fully supplied with plates and pots and pans..The shower is behind a glass window looking out to the woods and the new toilet room is cozy and functional. Upstairs under the skylights is sleeping space for 4 in two queen sized beds and an extra mat for single sleeping. A pleasant dining area beside large picture windows is flanked on one side by bookcases and the loft access stair and on the other side by a cozy woodstove and seating area. A pleasant and bright loft area is accessible by ships ladder.

Two bicycles are provided for cabin guests. Kayaks and bikes are rented on island. Lopez is famous for its bicycle friendly scenic and relatively flat roads.
