Located just outside of Big Bay, Michigan, which is about 25 miles north of Marquette. Older cabin with full kitchen, 2 full bathrooms and sleeping arrangements for 6. The living room contains 2 recliner chairs and a couch, TV and VCR along with a wood burning stove for supplemental heating (there is also a gas furnace). The kitchen and dining area are one big room containing an electric stove with self cleaning oven, mirowave, full size refrigerator with an across the top freezer, a table that easily sets 6, andcupboards full of dishes and pots and pans. Then there is a huge back room that is used as a storage room. Off the back storage room is the downstairs bathroom which is complete with a shower. The upstairs is one large room with a king size bed, a queen size bed and a set of trundle beds. Upstairs is another full bath, this one with a big old tub in it. The cabin is located about a mile outside of Big Bay on property on Lake Independence. While the cabin is not on the water, it is set back about 100 yards from the lake, there is access to the lake. The lake has excellent swimming right out in front with a nice hard sand bottom that stays shallow (under 4 feet) for about 75 yards out, great for small children. The lake is a good fishing spot for northern pike, jumbo perch, and walleye being the fish of major importance. There are a few crappie and bass but not a lot of them. Only a mile away is the harbor with launch sites into Lake Superior where you will find excellent salmon and lake trout fishing. | |
